About us

The PUGCHI TERRIER breed was created by crossing purebred Jack Terriers, Pugs and Chihuahuas.  The Pugchi Terrier is about 50% larger than a Chihuahua when full grown. Their girth is wider and sturdier than a Chihuahua, but not as dense as a Pug.  Their full grown height is shorter than a Jack Terrier.

Pugchi Terriers were bred for their intelligence, companionship, looks and temperament.

The first Pugchi Terrer, Adam, was born May 17, 2007 in Flagstaff, Arizona.  His mate, Lillith, was born June 24, 2007, also in Flagstaff.  Their lines were not crossed, but their marking, temperament, size and color were perfect matches.

15 other sets of Pugchi Terriers were carefully bred, with care being taken, not only for consistency, but also with a novice approach of not in-breeding.  This approach has resulted in healthy, well adjusted and intelligent dogs.  Pugchis do not suffer from hip dysplasia or any other common geneic mutations that purebreds normally have a predisposition for.

"Terri is my two-year-old
Pugchi Terrier.  I take her every where with me.  Everone loves her.  Three of my friends have also adopted Pugchi Terriers, and all four of us are so happy that we made that choice."

"My husband and I adopted Frankie, our Pugchi Terrier after our purebred Pitbull died of Parvo (even though he had his shots.)  We decided to try a new breed.  We weren't sure if we would like having a small breed dog - but we love it.  Our Pugchi Terrier did in a month; what five years of of traps could not - He eradicated our rat problem.  Awesome!"
